Earlier today we got the announcement that the upcoming Marvel Studios film, Avengers: Infinity War, is getting its release date pushed up to April 27th. That’s not all the news regarding Marvel films and release dates it seems, as @ERCboxoffice reports that six new Untitled Marvel films have been dated.

The dates seem to add up to Marvel’s 3 films per year strategy. The real question that comes out of the announcement of these dates is what films are they actually talking about. In terms of upcoming dated Marvel films, we have Avengers: Infinity War, Ant-Man & The Wasp, Captain Marvel, Avengers 4, Spider-Man Sequel, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. It’s important to state that in the case of the Spider-Man sequel and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, we only have years (2019 & 2020) and not specified dates.

The following is speculation regarding the untitled Marvel release dates:

A date that immediately caught my eye was May 7th, 2021. It wouldn’t be a surprise that if the film slated for that date is the Black Panther sequel. Considering the huge critical and box office success the film has had and the fact that Marvel typically takes a 3-year span to produce sequels, it would be a good bet to think Marvel would place a Black Panther sequel right at the beginning of the summer blockbuster season.

If we were to continue to follow the 3-year producing pattern, then other guesses for the other 2021 releases would be the third installment in the Ant-Man series, which could be that July 30, 2021, release. The date makes sense, as previous installments have come out to dates that closely resemble this one. The final 2021 date is an intriguing one because it could go in different ways.

There hasn’t been an announcement regarding the release date of the Doctor Strange sequel and the November release date makes sense for the film. On the other hand, the sequel may get a 2020 release date and this date may just be for a new MCU entry (Black Widow possibly?).

Finally, in terms of the films scheduled for 2022, some may be sequels. One of those sequels may be for Captain Marvel, as well as the third installment in the Spider-Man franchise. We should never rule out as well the possibilities of getting films we aren’t expecting as well, some examples being Thor 4 (or Ragnarok 2), Iron Man 4, or a new Captain America film, among other endless possibilities.

What are your thoughts on this? Which films do you think are the ones that have been slated? Let us know at @SuperBroMovies and in the comments below!
