As tradition has it, Black Panther’s post credit scene revealed something to get us even more excited for Avengers: Infinity War. Once the credits rolled, we got to see Bucky wake up from his long nap and converse with Shuri. There was still something missing though, his arm. We see in the trailer; a fully functional Bucky running around with what seems to be a brand new, possibly Vibranium, arm. This new arm is not seen in Black Panther however.
Apparently, the inclusion of Bucky’s new arm was a hot topic for the crew working on the film. Nate Moore, the executive producer of Black Panther, talked about the back and forth that went on. Moore stated:
We did discuss [giving him a new arm]… There was a version when it was in, there was a version where it was out. The truth was, he felt more human when he wasn’t whole in Winter Soldier. He could just be Bucky and that’s why I think it was important for him as a character to go,
not Sergeant Barnes, my name’s Bucky. I am a person, I am no longer a soldier
After losing his arm at the end of Captain America: Civil War, Bucky was taken to Wakanda to get the Hydra switch wiped from his memory. After waking up at the end of the movie, we see Bucky as the most human he’s been since his transformation. This is quite vital actually. Bucky has struggled trying to be the good guy and now he can feel free again. The scene is the calm before the storm that will come in Infinity War.
Now that we know Bucky is okay, we can expect to see him getting his new arm perhaps in the beginning of Avengers: Infinity War, which just got bumped up to a week earlier release date! Now the wait is even shorter until we see our favorite heroes take on Thanos and his army. Are you excited to see Bucky as a purely good soldier? More importantly, are you excited to see him fight alongside the Avengers?! Let us know over at SuperBroMovies!
