According to Variety, Priah Ferguson will return to Stranger Things season 3 after her guest role and Maya Hawke is joining the show.
Ferguson guest-starred on Stranger Things season 2 as Lucas’ younger sister, teasing him, and she instantly became a fan-favorite. Ferguson’s role will expand, however: she will not be doing just more of the same, saving Hawkins from a “dangerous new threat.” She will also be “joined by an army of her friends.” Ferguson has also guest-starred in Donald Glover’s Atlanta.
Maya Hawke is joining the show as, according to Variety, “an alternative girl bored with a mundane job.” Seeking thrills, her character will get in-too-deep in Hawkins, discovering a “dark secret.” Hawke currently stars in Little Women.
3 new characters, besides Hawke’s character, are also being added. The character descriptions are shown below:
- “Mayor Larry Kline:” Described as a classic, 80’s style slick politician, “Kline” is described as pathetic and driven only by his own interests. The studio is looking for a male, 40s-60s, to fill the role.
- “Bruce:” A morally compromised news reporter in his 50s, “Bruce” was described as outwardly sexist, overweight and bedraggled.
- “Patricia Brown:” “Patricia” seems to be filing the role of the sweet, neighborhood elder. The studio is looking for a woman in her 70s for the role which will see her spending a lot of time tending to her garden and offering her advice to the neighborhood kids.
