POTENTIAL SPOILERS FOR AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR
At the end of Ragnarok, Thor loses his eye at the hands of Hela in a heated battle. By the end of the film, he sports an eyepatch similar to that of his father, Odin. Many have assumed this is the look he will continue to have in Infinity War because the two trailers have both shown Thor with the eyepatch. What’s interesting is the fact that many of the merchandise for Infinity War have shown Thor without an eyepatch and with two functioning eyes. Toys aren’t always an indication of what is true in the film, but there have been many figures and collectibles indicating that Thor won’t have the eyepatch for entire movie. So what’s the deal?
First let’s take a look at some Thor toys from Infinity War.
Although it’s subtle, you can tell his right eye is a different color than his left eye. This is more than likely not a manufacturing mistake considering multiple different figures have it. You can even see a slight scar over his eye on one of the figures. So how does he get his eye back?
This is purely speculation at this point, but there are a couple different ways he could get his eye back in the film. One way is from Doctor Strange. Since Thor and Strange are already familiar with each other, Thor could ask him for mystic remedies once he arrives on Earth.
Another way could be from the process of creating his new weapon. It is fairly well known that Thor will be making a new weapon in Infinity War, so perhaps that process is so powerful that it heals Thor and all his injuries.
The last and most believable theory could have something to do with Heimdall. Heimdall was last seen on Thor’s ship arriving to Earth at the end of Ragnarök, so it would be safe to assume he appears in Infinity War. Many have speculated that the last Infinity Stone, the Soul Stone, resides with Heimdall, which is why he is able to see souls from all across the universe. What could happen is Thanos raids the Asgardian ship at the beginning of Infinity War, and Heimdall gets injured and is near death. In his final moments, he could give Thor the Soul Stone to keep safe before he escapes Thanos. Later in the film, Thor could use the Soul Stone in someway, perhaps to connect with his allies across the universe, which could be when his eye heals. The toys appear to show Thor with an orange eye, similarly to Heimdall’s. Some new toys also show Thor with Heimdall’s sword, so this wouldn’t be too far fetched.
The reason for Thor’s remedied eye could be completely different than what I theorized here, but we’ll have to wait until the movie comes out to know for sure. –Caleb Sadd
