A New ‘SUPER SMASH BROS.’ Game Is Coming To The Nintendo Switch In 2018

Making its debut back in 1999, Super Smash Bros. has remained a blockbuster franchise for Nintendo. Ever since the previous entry’s hit the Wii U back in 2014, fans have been begging for a brand new installment, especially on the Nintendo Switch. Today, those prayers were answered after Nintendo debuted a teaser trailer during their Nintendo Direct. Better yet, it’ll be here this year.

The trailer began with two Inklings (from Nintendo’s hit third person shooter Splatoon) playfully firing at one another, until suddenly, something catches their attention. The camera dramatically zooms in on a shocked Inkling’s eye, revealing a Super Smash Bros. logo reflecting in her pupil.

Some other shots in the trailer featured a silhouetted Mario and Link, with Link’s design being noticeably similar to his look in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The trailer begins at the 33:00 minute mark during the Direct.

As of 2018, all five entries in the franchise have been directed by Masahiro Sakurai, who is also responsible for the creation of Nintendo’s fan favorite Kirby series. The latest installment, Super Smash Bros. For Wii U, has sold over 5 million copies worldwide.

You can find some fresh screen grabs from the trailer below, and be sure to keep it here at SuperBroMovies for all the latest in entertainment news.
