Film news website CinemaBlend visited the Avengers: Infinity War set and was able to talk to Mark Ruffalo, who plays Bruce Banner/The Hulk in the upcoming movie. One thing fans have been inquisitive about since Captain America: Civil War was released was what side Thor and Hulk would have been on if they weren’t so busy doing their own Gladiatorial thing in space. When this was brought up in one of many on set interviews, Ruffalo’s answer brought up an interesting new concept and dynamic that will take place in the upcoming Avengers film.
While Tony Stark and Bruce Banner have always stuck together since their first interactions in Joss Whedon’s The Avengers, Bruce has apparently come back a changed man after Ragnarok, apparently different than Tony remebers and that should lead to some interesting new developments in the Science Bros relationship. This is what Ruffalo had to say on the matter:
“Well, coming out of Thor 3, Banner’s had a life changing experience in Thor 3 that makes him much more expressive and not so internalized, you know? So, it’s not combative, but [Bruce and Tony are] not so in-sync as they were. Plus, Banner doesn’t understand Civil War. He just doesn’t get it.”
Seeing how Bruce Banner reacts to the events that transpired after Age of Ultron will definitely be something interesting to watch on the screen, as well as seeing how the Science Bros deal with their new found conflicts with each other, especially since Banner’s distrust of Stark after creating Vision and Ultron in the previous Avengers film was never really resolved. Needless to say, there are a lot of plot threads that need to be closed with these next two Avengers films and it will be fun to see how the Russo’s handle the end of a 19 film saga.
