The Marvel Cinematic Universe is reaching an epic climax in the form of Avengers: Infinity War and its an all-hands-on-deck kind of situation. The Guardians of the Galaxy will be teaming with the Avengers, Black Panther’s Wakandan Army will be opening its arms up to heroes like War Machine and Black Widow, and even the Hulk will be making his return to Earth.

One name that has been conspicuous by her absence is Captain Marvel, being played by Academy Award winner Brie Larson. While the solo film featuring the iconic hero is set to hit theaters in 2019, fans have been wondering if her actual debut would come in a team-up film like Black Panther before her.

Rumors have been running wild for the last year about her potential appearance in the film but, finally, some closure has been found.

While Joe Russo, co-director of Avengers: Infinity War, seemingly confirmed that Larson’s Captain Marvel would not have a role in the film last summer, he recently dropped a bombshell to ScreenRant during a recent set visit.

Apparently, Captain Marvel scenes WERE filmed for the highly anticipated third Avengers film, however, those scenes have been left on the cutting room floor.

When Russo was asked which character in the film had the best costume, Russo stammered, “Is it …? Where’s [publicist John Pisani]? I can’t remember if we — Captain Marvel on set, is that official? If it’s not, it’s official now. I think Captain Marvel had a great outfit.”

With Captain Marvel confirmed to take place in the 1990’s, the fans will have to keep guessing about her impact on the overall MCU and how she will come face-to-face with the heroes of today.
