Just this Saturday it was announced that the planned animated Deadpool series, which was set to air on FX had been canceled. The announcement came as a bit of a shock to fans as the series had already received a straight to series order last year.
It was stated that FX and Donald Glover, who was set to write, executive produce, and serve as a showrunner, had parted ways due to creative differences. However, some had come to believe that it may have also been a result of Glover’s already busy schedule. But just today Glover posted a tweet stating “for the record: i wasnt too busy to work on deadpool.” followed by a twitter tread featuring a full script for an episode.
The script appears to be planned for an episode titled “Finale” and is packed full of the Merc with a Mouth’s signature meta-humor. However, it is currently unknown whether this was for an actual episode as it even references the show’s cancellation. Nonetheless, it is a shame we may never see the show come to fruition as it seems Glover really knows how to capture Deadpool’s personality.
For now, we will have to hope that the show will get picked up by another network or even a possible streaming service. Because while this was a just a sample of Glover’s Deadpool, it has left us wishing for more.
