Hot off the success of Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok, director Taika Waititi is onto his next project. The project is titled JoJo Rabbit. The film will be produced by Fox Searchlight. Scarlett Johansson has been cast in a lead role for the film, and Waititi will also star in the film.
The film will be set during WWII, and follow a young German boy who doesn’t quite fit in. These circumstances will prompt him to turn to an imaginary friend at such a horrible time in history. Johansson will play the boy’s mother, and Waititi will play his imaginary friend, Adolf Hitler. No, not the dictator, but the boy’s goofy, and charming imaginary friend that looks like Adolf Hitler.
Waititi wrote the screenplay for the film. He will also produce the film alongside Carthew Neal and Chelsea Winstanley. The film will start production this Spring. You can hear Johansson’s voice in her latest film the Wes Anderson directed Isle of Dogs and, of course, also be starring in Avengers: Infinity War which releases next month.
