Everyone’s favorite former Stormtrooper, John Boyega, made his way to Washington D.C. this weekend for its annual comic convention Awesome Con. During an interview with the press team for the con, which our team was granted access to, Boyega revealed what his upcoming projects are, which included taking on another producer role.
Boyega has been promoting the recently released Pacific Rim Uprising, a movie that he not only starred in but served as a producer. According to director Steven S. DeKnight, Boyega had a hand in crafting some of the third act of the blockbuster which is a massive task for a first time producer.
With his first producing credit under his belt, Boyega is wasting no time getting back into the role. He revealed that he’s producing a TV series for Big Talk Productions, who was the company behind 2011s Attack the Block:
“I’m going to be producing a TV series, that I’m actually not starring in, with newcomer director Sebastian Till and with Big Talk Productions, who did Attack the Block.”
Boyega also made sure to note that he has received a notice to begin training for Star Wars: Episode IX, also confirming that the film will begin filming in July which was previously reported. –Jackson Hayes
