Woody Harrelson is one of those actors who can star in a goofy comedy one day and then tackle a heart-wrenching, dramatic performance the next. From his roles in the Hunger Games franchise to his Golden Globe performance in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, Harrelson has been wowing audiences with his unique and recognizable style of storytelling for 40 years.
Harrelson’s role in the upcoming Marvel/Sony Pictures project Venom was confirmed some time ago and many instantly began wondering if he was playing the Spider-Man villain with his own evil symbiote, Cletus Kasady AKA Carnage. It has long been rumored that Carnage would be featured in the film but the capacity in which he would appear was not confirmed. That Hashtag Show initially reported that Carnage would indeed be in the film but not play a very large role in the events of the film. In fact, he might not even appear until the end of the movie.
Both the character and the actor have been on a collision course for quite some time and, as first reported by The Bleeding Cool , the Academy Award nominee has indeed been cast as Kasady in Venom!
Take this news with a grain of salt until official announcement is made but for those fans who fan-casted and dreamed of Harrelson taking on the role of the serial killer who receives his own, more sadistic version of Venom thanks to his own symbiote.
Venom has hit its fair share of roadblocks on its way to being released but the inclusion of Harrelson as Carnage is sure to bring more eyes to the project.
