Dwayne Johnson May Not Return For ‘FAST AND FURIOUS 9’

More trouble in the Fast and Furious franchise? Actor Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson may not return to for Fast and Furious 9. Johnson recently sat down with Rolling Stones and was asked whether or not he will return for the ninth installment. “I’m not quite sure,” he says. “Right now I’m concentrating on making the spin-off as good as it can be”. Despite uncertainty for returning for Fast and Furious 9, Johnson is still committed to the franchise’s spin-off starring Hobbs and Shaw (Jason Statham) which is set to release next year.

The news of Johnson’s uncertain future with the Fast franchise may be coming to an end is not surprising considering his very public feuds with several co-stars of the franchise including Tyrese and most notably Vin Diesel.

Diesel and Johnson’s feud began on the set of The Fate of the Furious where Johnson called out Diesel for being a ‘candyass’ and unprofessional on set. The feud was so intense, Johnson revealed the screen time they shared was filmed separately.

“Vin and I had a few discussions, including an important face-to-face in my trailer,” he says. “And what I came to realize is that we have a fundamental difference in philosophies on how we approach movie making and collaborating. It took me some time, but I’m grateful for that clarity. Whether we work together again or not… But I wish him all the best, and I harbor no ill will there, just because of the clarity we have.” He considers this, then lets out a big, sly laugh. “Actually, you can erase that last part about ‘no ill will.’ We’ll just keep it with the clarity.”

The Rock is cooking up a lot of new projects so focusing his attention where it’s drama free should be in one’s interest, but fans including myself love having Hobbs in the Fast and Furious franchise spin-off or not. Hopefully, all parties involved can come to some sort of resolution and get back to creating that family dynamic we all know and love.
