‘SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY’ Revealed To Be Set 10 Years Before ‘A NEW HOPE’

With the release of the second trailer for the upcoming Solo: A Star Wars Story film, it looks like promotion will be kicking into high gear. The trailer had a great deal of new footage and featured some looks at new characters and some fan favorites. It also revealed an interesting detail that Chewbacca is in fact 190 years old in the film, meaning we now know exactly when in the Star Wars universe this takes place.

During the trailer Chewbacca tells a young Han Solo that he is actually 190 years old, which means the movie will take place exactly 10 years before Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope. During the recording for The Making of ‘Star Wars’  in 1977, Harrison Ford revealed that Chewbacca was 200 years old in A New Hope. So now we finally know exactly when this new film takes place.

Until now we didn’t have an exact idea of when the movie took place prior to the original trilogy. As we get closer to the release of the film it will be interesting to see what else we learn about the movie. We should start to get more information about the many new characters joining the Star Wars universe and exactly what the film holds for Solo.
