Jake Gyllenhaal Says He Won’t Be Playing BATMAN

Last year, there were rumors that the current Batman actor, Ben Affleck, was leaning towards to stop playing Bruce Wayne and leaving the DCU. The Batman director Matt Reeves had already begun looking for actors to replace Affleck as the next Batman. One actor’s name that has come up frequently in rumors was Jake Gyllenhaal. He was once considered the favorite to take over the Dark Knight mantle. In an interview with CNA Lifestyle, Gyllenhaal gave a blunt answer about the role when asked if he will play Batman.

“Wow, that’s a very difficult question. The answer to that is no”.

You can see the interview at 1:30 mark on CNA Lifestyle below where he talks about the role. I wouldn’t rule it out that he is indeed out of the running, but he could very well continue to deny that he got the role. Gyllenhaal could be in negotiations and he doesn’t want to jinx anything by speaking too soon or he could be waiting for the official announcement from Warner Bros. So take this confirmation said by Gyllenhaal with a grain of salt.

There were other reports that came later out on that Baby Driver star Jon Hamm had thrown his name in the hat to play Bruce Wayne, but let’s not jump to conclusions that he is the last candidate standing. He is just merely advocating that he would be the right man for the job if given the opportunity. Reeves is currently working on the script for The Batman and he will write the role that will perfectly fit the personality of the actor that he will choose to play the next Batman.
