The the next generation of He-Man films has taken one giant step in the pre-production process as Sony Pictures and Mattel have finally found the two men who will be tasked with directing.
Aaron and Adam Nee, most known for their work on independent films such as The Last Romantic and Band of Robbers, have been tapped to direct the film based on the iconic Mattel action figures. Previously, He-Man and friends have starred in an animated series in the 1980’s as well as the 1987 Dolph Lundgren-starring live-action movie.
With a screenplay written by David S. Goyer, best known for his work on The Dark Knight and Blade trilogies, the film is slated to be released on December 29, 2018.
This film will serve as the Nee Brothers ‘coming out’ party of sorts as this will be the biggest film with the biggest budget they’ve ever taken the helm of. With Sony amidst a studio resurgence despite the email leak scandal of 2015 with the recent success of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.
What do you think? Will the indie film makers succeed in creating a cinematic experieicene for moviegoers of all ages or will this film add the fabled superhero film fatigue that some are feeling given the number of Marvel and DC projects in production?
