Despite Avengers: Infinity War not even being out in theaters yet, fans are already clamoring for details regarding the future of the MCU. Marvel has previously said that the title of the fourth Avengers film will not be released until well after Infinity War hits theaters. Just yesterday, it was reported that Marvel will skip Hall H this year, where they usually announce details for their next years movies. Rubbing salt in a fresh wound, Kevin Feige spoke today about the secrecy they are keeping well beyond just Avengers 4.

Currently, none of the Marvel projects planned up to 2022 have been announced except the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming in July 2019. After that there are nine unnamed Marvel films with planned releases. Speaking with Den of Geek, Kevin Feige revealed that not only are they holding back Avengers 4 details but the details of all the other movies until at least after the film releases in May 2019.

“We won’t do anything until after this time next year. After that, I think we’ll announce where we’re going. But we did a very big announcement in 2014 where we announced a lot of movies, and we added a few movies to it after that announcement. But it really felt important that we deliver on that before we do a big showcase of whatever is to come.”

It is upsetting that Marvel will seemingly play down its San Diego Comic Con presence on this year’s important anniversary. But it makes sense that Feige doesn’t want any speculation to draw away from what surprises are left in Avengers 4. It also is smart to not release Phase 4 details too early when things can change if the Fox deal goes through. Having the rights to Spider-Man come back changed a lot of Phase 3 late in it’s run and Marvel probably doesn’t want to repeat that kind of shuffle.
