The cast of the upcoming Captain Marvel keeps getting bigger and bigger, as Annette Bening has signed on to join Marvel Studios’ first female-led superhero film.
Details on Bening’s character are being kept under wraps, though The Hollywood Reporter notes that she could be playing some sort of scientist. This will mark Bening’s first ever appearance in a superhero film, but she boasts quite a resume, having been nominated for four Academy Awards as well as starring in hits such as American Beauty.
Bening joins Brie Larson, Ben Mendelsohn, Jude Law, Gemma Chan, Djimon Hounsou, and Lee Pace. The film will hit theaters on March 8, 2019.
