Jordan Peele’s New Film ‘US’ Has Found A Cast

Jordan Peele is in the process of creating a new film. We all remember Peele for his 2017 epic Get Out. The film was a low budget movie from the mind of Jordan Peele. He wrote and directed the movie, Blumhouse helped bring it to life. The film made $255 million USD off of a $4.5 million USD budget. Peele also won an Oscar for the film, among having several nominations.

Now, Peele is moving onto his next film titled Us. He spoke about his new film with The Hollywood Reporter, here’s a few quotes:

“What do I do next? How do I top this? And you know, and I think it’s important to focus on stories that are true to me. I go, when writing Get Out, my sort of mantra is or was, ‘Let’s write my favorite film I haven’t seen yet.’ So I think it’s easy to get sort of bogged down in ‘how does this compare to the first one, how does that compare?’ When all is said and done, my next film, I am currently writing it and I’ll direct for Universal this year, I’m just trying to entertain myself again.”

“One thing I know is that this is genre; and playing around with the thriller, horror, action, fun genre of intrigue is my favorite. That’s my sweet spot. So I think tonally it should resemble Get Out. That said, I want to make a completely different movie. I want to address something different than race in the next one.”

He said that after Get Out he wanted to make some more socially conscious films. This seems like it may be one of those films. There’s a lot he says in there that you can pull from. He wants it to be different from Get Out, but have the same tone. I personally, am very intrigued and interested. We don’t know much yet, but we know enough for now.

Today, we have found out that there have been a few castings for the film. Winston Duke (Black Panther/Avengers: Infinity War), Lupita Nyong’o (Black Panther/12 Years a Slave), Elizabeth Moss (The Handmaid’s Tale) have all been tapped to star in the film. Nyong’o is in negotiations to star, while Duke and Moss are in the early stages of making a deal.

The film will be based in suburbia around a black couple and a white couple. Nyong’o and Duke would play the black couple and Moss would be 1/2 of the white couple. We know that Peele’s next few films will all have a social problem related with them, this one seems interesting. The film is set to start filming this year and be released on March 15, 2019 under Universal.

Peele is directing from his own script again like he did with Get Out. He is also producing the film under his Monkeypaw Productions. He will also be joined by Blumhouse Producers Jason Blum and Sean McKittrick. Ian Cooper from Monkeypaw will be helping produce the film as well.

Here’s a teaser poster for the film:
