‘STAR TREK’ Star Simon Pegg Wants To Play CAPTAIN BRITAIN In The MCU

With the insane amount of success currently showering the Marvel Cinematic Universe, every actor and actress on the planet probably has their eyes on the franchise and the possibility of landing a role. Fans have been fancasting heroes yet to appear in the MCU for years but now it looks like the actors themselves are fancasting themselves.

Simon Pegg is one of the most recognizable actors in the world. He has appeared in a bevy of franchises including Star Trek, Star Wars,  and Mission: Impossible, as well as been one of the driving forces behind the cult-classic Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World’s End), directed by Edgar Wright and co-starring Nick Frost.

However, it looks like Pegg has his eyes on getting his on super powers and joining the likes of Iron Man, Drax, & Black Panther in battle against the forces of evil. during a recent interview with JoBlow, Pegg expressed his interest in playing a Marvel character not yet portrayed on the big screen, Captain Britain.

“I mean, Captain Britain was this Marvel superhero that I loved growing up, ’cause he was the British member of that community. I even have a Captain Britain mask when I was a kid, but I fear I would probably be slightly too old now, but if they do have… If a Captain Britain movie comes about, they’re gonna need a British cast, so I’ll be waiting.”

Captain Britain, AKA Brian Braddock, is a British scholar who became a super-powered being thanks to the magic of Merlyn. He has the ability to fly as well as super strength and speed. He debuted in the comics in 1976 and has been affiliated with the X-Men, the Illuminati, and the Secret Avengers. He is also the twin brother of the mutant Psylocke, played by Olivia Munn in the X-Men film franchise.

Pegg would bring a level of charm and humor to the role. For those who claim he would not fit in with the current roster of heroes in the MCU, remember that Chris Pratt and Paul Rudd starred in a large number of comedic roles prior to starring in their own Marvel films.

What do you think? Would Captain Britain be a good hero to join the ranks in the upcoming Phase 4? Is Simon Pegg a good choice for the role? Let us know in the comments below and @superbromovies.
