RUMOR: Warner Brothers Looking To Release ’MAN OF STEEL 2’ In 2020

The first film to kick off the DC Universe began with Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel in 2013. Henry Cavill made his debut as Superman. This film went on to make $668 million at the worldwide box office. We have had four other DC movies made since. Cavill has appeared in two of the four movies, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League. It is long past due for Superman to get another sequel. Revenge of the Fans EIC Mario-Francisco Robles shed some light and dropped some information that he received from his sources at Warner Bros. during his El Fanboy Podcast.

Robles revealed that despite having no director or script, Warner Bros. are looking at a possible 2020 release for Man of Steel 2. Robles also said to take that information with a grain of salt. It would make sense that rumor is making the rounds since Cavill revealed recently in an interview with Fandango while promoting Mission Impossible – Fallout that he wants to put on the cape sooner than later.

The Kingsman franchise director Matthew Vaughn is one name that has come up most frequently for the director’s chair. Recently, Fallout directorChristopher McQuarrie said in an interview with CinePOP, that he would be interested if asked by Cavill.

“I feel like if the story was right and the character was right. I love working with Henry, Henry’s great. If Henry asked me to, sure, why not?”

That’s two big-name directors that have expressed interest if asked. If it is true that Man of Steel 2 is to be released in 2020, Warner Bros. better get the ball rolling soon as they would have to begin shooting in 2019 to prep for the 2020 release. Cavill loves the character, So Warner Bros. should take advantage of the momentum of Cavill still being interested in donning the cape before he moves on.
