‘AGENTS OF SHIELD’ Renewed For A Sixth Season By ABC

Rejoice, Marvel Television fans! ABC has just announced ahead of Friday’s season 5 finale that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been renewed for a sixth season. The one caveat, however, is that this new season will run for 13 episodes rather than the traditional 22.

When it premiered, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D received a mixed reception until a tie-in with Captain America: The Winter Soldier shook up the dynamic and paved the way for all kinds of new storylines. Since then, its loyal fanbase has tuned in to see Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) and his team take on inhumans, spar with Ghost Rider, and, most recently, go to space.

Despite the fan support, the renewal comes as a bit of a surprise. The ratings have been slowly declining ever since season 1 and the upcoming season finale, titled “The End”, was being prepped as a series finale in case of cancellation. Still, fans are probably overjoyed to get to spend more time with these characters.

Are you excited to see Coulson’s crew back in action? What do you think will happen in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 6?  Let us know on twitter @superbromovies!
