‘DOOM PATROL’ Series Ordered For DC Universe Streaming Service

It’s an exciting time to be a DC Comics fan! Greg Berlanti, best known for executive producing the CW DC Universe shows, will be doing the same with an adaptation of Doom Patrol for Warner Bros. Digital Networks’ upcoming subscription-based DC Universe streaming service.

For those unfamiliar with the source material, the Doom Patrol are best known as a team consisting of lesser-known heroes Robotman, Negative Man, Elasti-Girl and Crazy Jane. These heroes, who suffered accidents that gave them powers but left their personal lives in disarray, are brought together by Dr. Niles Caulder, aka The Chief, in an unlikely partnership that functions as both a way to fight crime and cope with their issues.

The Doom Patrol series will take place after the upcoming Titans and follow the heroes as they’re called to action by Cyborg with a mysterious mission that could change their lives forever. The series has already received a full 13 episode order to be written by Jeremy Carver of Supernatural fame, joining a packed slate that includes Metropolis, the animated Harley Quinn series, and, of course, Titans, just to name a few.
