Ben Affleck’s future playing the Caped Crusader in the DCU has been questionable, to say the least. After his revered performance in Batman v Superman, he was set to star in and direct his own Batman movie, although he quickly backed out of directing, and several reports have cited him with wanting to exit the role. It has been widely believed that we won’t see Affleck return as the Dark Knight, but a recent rumor suggests that he wants to stick around after all.
According to Daniel R on Twitter, who has proven to be a reliable source for move news, Ben Affleck has expressed interest in continuing to play Batman.
While this should be taken with a grain of salt considering even the source isn’t entirely positive, fans of Affleck’s Batman will be happy to hear that we may not have seen the last of him. Despite Batman’s two DCU films not being very well received, Ben Affleck has been widely praised as the Caped Crusader.
If he continues to play the role, we will likely see Ben Affleck return next in the Matt Reeves directed Batman movie. Affleck was originally set to direct and write that movie, but those duties eventually turned over to Reeves. Jake Gyllenhaal was also reported to take Affleck’s place, but that rumor was debunked by Gyllenhaal himself.
