‘DEADPOOL 2’ Director David Leitch Was Inspired By ‘Final Destination’ In Crafting Visuals Of Domino’s Powers

Everyone knows Wolverine, Cyclops, Jean Gray, and Deadpool obviously is becoming bigger by the chimichanga. Deadpool 2 will be introducing us to new characters not seen on screen. One of these characters “Domino” played by the talented Zazie Beetz(Atlanta) always seem to have luck on her side. Being able to alter events always in her favor. You might wonder though how a writer creates these scenes and brings them to life?

Writer Paul Wernick had this to say about the female heroine:

“She was such fun character to write, and she wasn’t as hard to write for us as it was to visualize,” “In the sense that her superpower is luck. How do you make that cinematic? And that was actually [director David Leitch’s (Atomic BlondeJohn Wick)] brilliance, to put that up on screen and to actual actually visualize it, so that it does feel like a very intentional superpower [even though] you don’t have lasers coming out of the eyes.”

Leitch also went on to tell Polygon that he was inspired by the Final Destination films in crafting the visual manifestation of Domino’s abilities.

“Superpowers are a shortcut to fight scenes that feel different from every other action movie out there. As you explore as a fight choreographer and performer,” Leitch said, “you design action sequences for movies all the time. And they generally feel stale, because everything feels like it’s been done, but [Deadpool had] the gift to be presented with these interesting powers and problems to solve.”

Are you guys excited about Domino and the rest of this ensemble in Deadpool 2? Make sure to get tickets, showings begin tomorrow! Let us know what you think by tweeting SuperBroMovies. – Jeffery
