New ‘DARK PHOENIX’ Poster Possibly Confirms Title Change

The return of the X-Men is imminent. With the tangential spinoff, Deadpool 2, now in theaters, the marketing team’s attention can now focus on X-Men: Dark Phoenix, or should I just say Dark Phoenix. A new tweet possibly confirms the title change as well as gives us a new poster.

As you can see, the next installment in the mutant franchise will be taking a new approach in their marketing. This new title highlights the fresh start this new movie intends to bring in while also remembering its roots with that final letter highlighting the mutant team’s name.

After X-Men: Apocalypse performed adequately at the box office while also alienating critics and fans alike, dropping the ‘X-Men’ from the title will hopefully help ease fans worries.

Personally, I’m a fan of the more simplistic approach to the title. Circling the ‘X’ shows it’s still apart of the franchise while also focusing in on a more important aspect, the story. The Dark Phoenix Saga is one of the more powerful and epic X-Men stories and deserves a proper movie.

Plus, if the rumors of this possibly being a two-parter (ignoring the Disney/Fox merger) Dark Phoenix: Part 2 sounds so much better than X-Men: Darker Phoenix or whatever route they would go with it.

What do you think of the poster and title? Does it excite you? Let us know @superbromovies!
