Many of the characters in the Original Trilogy of Star Wars have appeared in some capacity in the new Sequel Trilogy. However, one notable character who has yet to appear in this new phase of the franchise is Lando Calrissian. With the likes of Han Solo and Luke Skywalker having been killed off in the newest outings, it would make sense for Lando to make a return in the upcoming Episode IX. According to a recent tweet by MegaCon Orlando, there is now speculation that Billy Dee Williams will come back as Lando for the final entry in this trilogy.
Williams was among several celebrities who appeared at the aforementioned convention. Based on the tweet, it seems that he is now on a training regimen. In addition to MegaCon revealing that he recently turned 81, it explains that he is currently training almost every other day and that he has a new diet:
Perhaps this is because he would like to maintain strong health at an old age. However, his training schedule is similar to those of Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill, both of whom eventually appeared in both existing films in this new trilogy. Therefore, there is potential that Williams will be brought on for the next Star Wars, much like his old co-stars were previously. Fans will have to wait for an official announcement to see if his training is involved with his introduction in the Sequel Trilogy. For now, they can anticipate Episode IX with the potential that Lando could show up once again in this universe.
What do you think about Williams’s recent training regimen, and could it mean that he is preparing for a reprisal of his iconic character in the Star Wars universe? Be sure to tweet your thoughts at @superbromovies and stay tuned for more Episode IX news.
