While fans wait anxiously to learn the title of the follow-up to this year’s Avengers: Infinity War, a new report now claims that the production for Avengers 4 had a distinct name that comic fans will immediately recognize.
According to MCU Cosmic, Infinity Gauntlet was used to name the fourth Avengers film during production. Throughout filming, the whole crew used that title regularly to describe the final part of Thanos’ journey. The name is ultimately not going to be used and it’s because it leaked pretty early on. During the press junket for Infinity War, some interviewers referred to the fourth film as such. This promptly made Kevin Feige and co. to deny it and try to put that behind them.
Based on the comic of the same name, Infinity Gauntlet would have been a great callback to Jim Starlin’s story arc for Thanos. It would also be very fitting since Thanos now has all of the Infinity Stones in his gauntlet. Now that title will not be the one used for market the film, but it’ll be hard to beat it. One must assume the final title will be close to the word “Infinity” in some way, so keep your guesses going.
