According To Todd McFarlane, The ‘SPAWN’ Reboot Will Not Be An Origin Story

So far Todd McFarlane’s Spawn reboot has been shrouded in mystery, in fact, all we know is that Jamie Foxx will star. We don’t yet know who else is starring in the film nor when it will be released. And while we don’t know the plot of the movie McFarlane has recently revealed what Spawn will not be about.

Recently McFarlane revealed that it will not be an origin story. When asked he had this to say,

“Nope. Nope. Nope. I’m not interested in the origin story. I can’t do it. I can’t do it. I’ve seen too many movies that spend way too much time for the set up.”

McFarlane stated that he doesn’t find these films interesting as he is exhausted by them. In support of his point, the Spawn creator referenced the recent film A Quiet Place which starts 89 days after the apocalypse and reveals very little about the circumstances of the film,

“Given A Quiet Place came out and it starts with day 89, I love it. I love it. It didn’t go in any depth what happened in those first 88 days. I love it. So either you just go for the ride, or you don’t.”

How this will go over with fans remains to be seen but hopefully, it will give a new atmosphere to the superhero genre. But for now, it will be some time before the film is released so we will have to wait and see.
