After the release of Marvel Studios Avengers: Infinity War fans were left with many questions about the fate of Earth’s mightiest heroes. However, they will have to wait a year until the release of Avengers 4. But that as we all know we will have two new films to hold us over till then, Ant-Man and the Wasp and Captain Marvel. However, both films are set before the events of Avengers: Infinity War with the former set between Captain America: Civil War and Infinity War and the latter set in the 90’s.

Yet even though the Ant-Man sequel is set before Infinity War this is Marvel we are talking about so it must connect to future Marvel movies in some way. Because of this, we at SuperBroMovies have come up with a theory of how it will connect. We believe that Ant-Man and the Wasp will introduce the technology needed to time travel in the film. One rumor that has circulated around the movie is that it will feature the Avengers traveling backward to moments in the MCU’s history including the Battle of New York. But given Doctor Strange was wiped from existence in Infinity War and Thanos holds the Time Stone they will need a new way to time travel, which is where Ant-Man comes in.

As we know Ant-Man and the Wasp will focus heavily on the Quantum Realm as Scott Lang, Hank Pym, and Hope Van Dyne try to rescue Janet Van Dyne from there. This is where the connection to time travel comes in. In Ant-Man when asked what it would mean to enter the Quantum Realm Hank Pym stated,

“It means that you would enter a reality where all concepts of time and space become irrelevant as you shrink for all eternity. Everything that you know, and love, gone forever.”

The part of interest is where he mentions all concepts of time become irrelevant. What this could mean is that if you were able to find a way to manipulate the Quantum Realm perhaps you could also manipulate time.

This is where Ant-Man and the Wasp comes in. In the trailer for the film, it was revealed that the film’s villain, Ghost, has stolen Pym’s technology which allows her to manipulate the Quantum Realm. Ghost has most likely taken the technology and built it into her suit which can be seen in this following set photo.

Unless Marvel pulls another Infinity War, Ghost will not win at the end of Ant-Man and the Wasp, meaning the heroes will take her suit which allows her to use the Quantum Realm. So if our theory that manipulation of the Quantum Realm allows manipulation of time travel Ant-Man will have the ability to travel through time when Avengers 4 comes around.

We think that he will then use this power to help the Avengers time travel based on past set photos.

As you can see here Scott Lang, Tony Stark, and Steve Rogers are all wearing some sort of device on their wrists in the scene set during the original Avengers. The reason this is interesting is that they bear a strong resemblance to the circular devices up the arms of Ghost’s costume which can be seen above. So based on what we know of the Quantum Realm and these set photos we have come to theorize that Ant-Man will utilize Ghost’s technology to manipulate the Quantum Realm from Ant-Man and the Wasp, thus giving the Avengers the power to travel through time in Avengers 4.

We would like to note that at this time this is nothing more than our own theory. Until the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp, we wont know if any of this is true, so for make sure to stay tuned to SuperBroMovies to see if our theory panes out.
