While Avengers: Infinity War has been out for over a month so far, it would seem that fans and audiences have already seen everything there is to know about the movie. However, concept designer Sean Hargreaves has recently posted several pieces of concept art for the film on his website, most of which depicts Wakandan landscapes and vehicles. Of the multiple photos that were posted, one noteworthy piece of concept art features Steve Rogers/Captain America in his classic bright red and blue suit complete with his iconic circular Vibranium shield.
This is significant because neither the suit or shield depicted in the concept art is present in the film. Furthermore, Captain America: Civil War‘s ending featured Rogers giving up his shield to Tony Stark/Iron Man, meaning that there needed to be some way for the shield to return to him. The concept art also suggests that Rogers would have his shield during the climax, as it depicts him in a grassy setting complete with Titan vehicles in the background.
Other noteworthy images from Hargreave depict Stark wearing his new nanotechnology-powered suit in a city setting, Thanos in a forest setting, a view of Wakanda with Vision fighting one of the children of Thanos, and the Vormir temple. These differ from the Captain America art in that these visual concepts appear intact in the final product. Taken as a whole, Hargreave’s concept art is one of several movie-related examples of early ideas that are not modified to a great extent once fully realized.
