After months of anticipation, the first trailer for Aquaman is just around the corner. Until then, new images from the upcoming film, one of them being our first look at the fan-favorite villain Black Manta.
Played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, David Kane (instead of Hyde) aka Black Manta will be one of two villains in James Wan upcoming DC comics epic. Entertainment Weekly has the exclusive first look at the character, sitting in what seems like some kind of base admiring the iconic helmet.
Looking like straight from the comics, the helmet seems to be ready for use. If I had to guess, the setting of the scene is in a submarine, the same one that Arthur Curry is seen in from the very first image that was released from the film. Director James Wan describes the character; “He’s part mercenary but full-time pirate who in his suit will look like some crazy alien from outer space.”
As said before, he’s only one of two villains in the film, but not the main antagonist. King Orm played by Patrick Wilson will take that spot, and we’ll surely be getting our first look at him soon.
Aquaman swims into theaters December 21, 2018.
