The events of Avengers: Infinity War will have some long-lasting affects on the course of history within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Between the universe-rocking snap with which Thanos used the Infinity Stones to eliminate half of the universe’s populations and the tragic loss of Gamora before Thanos even gathered all the stones, multiple franchises will have to deal with the ramifications of Thanos’ thirst for a smaller universe.

One of those franchises is the one being led creatively by writer and director James Gunn, who is already hard at work working on the screenplay for the third installment of the Guardians of the Galaxy series.

Despite several MCU bigwigs, including Chris Pratt and The Russos, teasing that some of the films coming out in the future would actually be BEFORE the third Avengers film in the timeline, James Gunn is here to clear the air. While it would’ve been an easy pill to swallow given the fact that Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 took place in 2014 despite coming out in 2017, Gunn’s recent Tweet confirms that his thirds story will absolutely have to deal with the actions of Thanos following next years untitled fourth Avengers movie.

It is going to be a good long while until fans have any idea as to what will actually happen in the upcoming movie, fans will have to get used to the idea that the beloved team from the first two movies will be altered and dealing with the casualties of war.

What do you think? Are you ready for the heartbreak of watching Star-Lord live life without Gamora? What do you think the team will look like by the time the film is released in theaters? Let us know in the comments below and @superbromovies.
