Sony Pictures has been the center of several controversial Marvel-related stories for the last few years since the groundbreaking deal was made with Marvel Studios to bring Spider-Man AKA Peter Parker to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

From the confusion surrounding Venom and its inclusion in the MCU and Tom Holland’s involvement in the film to the on-again-off-again development of the Black Cat and Silver Sable team-up film, Sony seems to have a lot of Spider-Man-related intellectual property and no idea what to do with its.

Now, as first reported by The Wrap, Sony Pictures is currently working on yet another spinoff and solo film surrounding a Spider-Man supporting character. Silk is said to be in the beginning stages of pre-production with Amy Pascal attached as producer.

Silk, AKA Cindy Moon a Korean-American heroine, made her comic book debut in ‘The Amazing Spider-Man Vol. 3 #1’ in 2014 and has been a huge hit with comic book fans every since.

Moon obtained her abilities, which include long range precognitive Spider-sense and superhuman strength, speed and agility, after attending a a demonstration of how to handle nuclear waste materials including a spider irradiated by a particle accelerator which bit Moon on the ankle before falling to its death. She has been an ally of Peter Parker as well as an agent of  S.H.I.E.L.D.

Silk joins Venom and Silver & Black as films Sony currently plan on creating as a part of their Spider-Man film universe, seemingly separate from the MCU.
