RUMOR: Ewan McGregor To Return As Obi-Wan Kenobi In ‘STAR WARS: EPISODE IX’

We finally might have some solid news on Ewan McGregor’s future as the beloved Jedi. This cam be taken as good or bad news, depending on what you were expecting. Ever since Star Wars included the story films into their franchise, people become curious as to if we’d get an Obi-Wan solo film to cover the time game between A New Hope and Phantom Menace. Instead, he may appear in J.J. Abrams next installment.

It has been reported that he will be shooting scenes in Los Angeles for Episode IX. This however could mean that he won’t be getting his own film and this whole time his return was planned for the finale of the trilogy. At his point, seeing McGregor as Obi-Wan in any manifestation would be really cool. It’s been almost 15 years since we saw him in the cloak in Revenge of the Sith and fans have been waiting anxiously.

A source told The Sun that he’ll secretly record for the film. Then they went on to talk about Disney’s concern for his return in a statement:

Disney have been mulling over a stand-alone film for Obi-Wan. There have been concerns about getting the story right.

When it comes down to it, it’s all about getting the character right. Obi-Wan is a fan favorite and people really want him to come back in full force, preferably in his own film, but I think they can settle for a role in Episode IX.

If this rings true, it will make waves in the Star Wars universe. We got Han, we got Chewie, Leia, Luke, but no one really from the sequels. Seeing his return would bring a massive smile to my face and many others. The only downside to this is that it is a rumor. Rumors are a wild card in the film world and we’ll obviously have to wait til an announcement or the movie’s release. Shooting this down would be, so uncivilized. We’ll make sure to keep you updated!
