LGBTQ Characters Will Be Introduced Into MCU Says Kevin Feige

It’s Pride Month! A month dedicated to the LGBTQ communtiy that would eventually heavily influence society and the media. In recent media, there has been representation of the communtiy in movies like Love, Simon and even in TV shows like Riverdale. It looks like Marvel Studios will soon begin to embrace the trend as President Kevin Feige has said there will be LGBTQ characters in the MCU.

In a recent interview with The Playlist, Kevin Feige was asked about LGBTQ representation in the MCU:

The Playlist: When are we getting a Gay, Bi, LGBTQ, out character in the MCU?  Is it even in the works?

Kevin Feige: Yes.

The Playlist: That’s the answer?

Kevin Feige: Yeah, that’s the answer.

The Playlist: It’s not someone we’ve seen yet, I’m guessing?

Kevin Feige: Both.

The Playlist: Both?

Kevin Feige: Both ones you’ve seen and ones you haven’t seen.

This is an interesting answer because there are a lot of theories on who the current LGBTQ characters could be. Some speculate Valyrkie from Thor: Ragnarok as the director had said she was bisexual. Maybe fans will see a new character in Captain Marvel or in Phase 4. Or maybe from an unexpected current character. In film, anything is possible. Whatever the case may be, Marvel has given fans Black Panther, which was a movie that became so much more with its celebration of culture. Marvel Studios owes it to their fans to bring about more representation. So far, they have done right by Black Panther, and from the looks of it, Captain Marvel will be doing right by a lead female heroine. After billions of dollars made thanks to their fans, Marvel will surely be doing the upmost for them, including more representation.

Nowawdays, representation from all aspects of people has been something becoming more and more important. Marvel Studios has heavily influenced the film industry and they have garnered such diverse fans that it is their job to bring diversity into their films also. The LGBTQ fans will surely appreciate the representation. Let’s hope to see and hear about it soon, but for now, fans will be able to enjoy Ant-Man and The Wasp which will be in Theaters soon!
