Variety got a chance to catch up to Dwayne Johnson at the premiere of his latest film, Skyscraper, and asked if Johnson could shed some light on the development progress of Black Adam.
“Black Adam is coming along, the script is coming along. I’m very happy with it. That’s a project that obviously you want to take your time.”
It is good to hear that Johnson and Warner Bros. are slowly taking their time on the script especially after how the previous DC movies were received by audience and fans. Let’s just say that those films did not reach the standards that the fans were expecting to get. Now that Warner Bros. has undergone changes in management, fans should have some newfound hope that the studio is taking more patience to create a good story, finding the right cast, and finding good leadership in the director’s chair.
Johnson spoke on the topic of the new management at Warner Bros. and the future of DC Films.
“I think it’s in a very exciting time now, with DC, because there’s some rejiggering going on. There’s reconfiguration going on. There’s looking at the macro map of the DC universe. And I know those guys are working diligently at DC and Warner Bros too, working closely with our producers too, to see how Black Adam unfolds in the universe. But yeah. I mean, I’m excited about it. It’s just coming along and being written.”
This is some good news as it seems Warner Bros. could possibly be slowly figuring it out if they have the right formula to improve and expand the DC Universe. That starts with Aquaman, starring Jason Momoa as Aquaman, which will be coming out in theaters this December. Shazam!, starring Zachary Levi as Shazam, will hit theaters in 2019! In the meantime, Johnson’s latest film, Skyscraper, comes out in theaters everywhere this Friday!
