Godzilla: King of Monsters is the highly anticipated sequel to 2014’s Godzilla. The revival of the Japanese Monster movie was met to mostly positive reviews, and that was more than enough to launch sequels included Kong: Skull Island and now Godzilla: King of Monsters.
Today thanks to an interview with Entertainment Weekly director Micheal Dougherty has provided us with the first details and images of his upcoming film.
Its five years since the battle of Godzilla and the two MUTO creatures and the world is still in shock.
“The world is reacting to Godzilla in the same way we would react to any other terrifying incident, in that we’re overreacting. Godzilla hasn’t been seen since that destructive finale but there’s paranoia and endless speculation about whether he is the only one out there or whether we’re threatened by others like his kind.”
Godzilla will be facing some of his greatest foes in the movie. He must battle King Ghidorah, Mothra, and Rodan.
Dougherty revealed he has somewhat of a soft spot for Rodan and had this to say about the monster.
In a lot of ways he’s more powerful than Godzilla. He’s liked a winged A-bomb.
He quickly reminded them not to forgot how powerful Godzilla is, especially with his ability to exhale atomic breath. Which Godzilla will do in a moment of the film the director calls a “call to arms.”
The first look of Godzilla looks absolutely amazing. Along with this imagine Entertainment Weekly was able to get one of two other characters of the film.
Shown is Dr. Emma Russell (Ver Farminga) and her daughter Madison (Millie Bobby Brown) looking at something surely incredible. Along side them Kyle Chandler has been cast as Mark Russell, Emma’s ex husband and Madison’s father.
Finally when asked about King Kong being set up in the film this was Dougherty’s response.
It’s not like we’re bending over backwards to introduce Kong, but there’s definitely some breadcrumbs.”
