In an exclusive from Deadline, we have new information on Denis Villeneuve’s upcoming Sc-Fi film, DUNE. The popular sci-fi property whose rights are now owned by Legendary was first adapted for the big screen by David Lynch in 1984, and was met with negative reviews from critics and mixed responses from audiences. Fast forward to 2018, and we now have Arrival and Blade Runner 2049 director Denis Villenueve helming the sc-fi epic, being described in his own words, as a “Star Wars for Adults”.
We now have a possible star for Villenueve’s film, as Deadline has reported that Call Me By Your Name’s Timothée Chalamet is in talks for the lead role of the film, a character by the name of Paul Atreides. Timothée Chalamet is currently coming off of a hot streak of sucsessful films with a small role in Hostiles to a bigger supporting role in Lady Bird to becoming the main character in Call Me By Your Name, recently nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards. Timothée is also slated to star as the title character in Amazon Studio’s Beautiful Boy alongside Steve Carell.
It will be interesting to see a Talented director in Villenueve working with an actor of Chalamet’s caliber on such a compelling and intense property like Dune. Looking at each respective artists catalog of previous work, it is almost guaranteed that this film will be something special and both Director and Actor will bring their A-Game to such a big project. – Ernesto Valenzuela
