‘JOKER’ Origin Film Scheduled For Release In Fall 2019

With a lead actor and director now attached to the Joker origin movie in the form of Joaquin Phoenix and Todd Phillips, Warner Bros. has now confirmed that the film will be released in Fall 2019. The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on October 4, 2019, and it has now received the official title of Joker.

Both the title and release date were announced at San Diego Comic-Con, where Warner Bros. and DC will also be present on Saturday, July 21st. Joker’s October release means that it will open alongside Fox’s The Woman in the Window and Paramount’s Gemini Man that weekend. Furthermore, Warner Bros./DC’s next film, Wonder Woman 1984, will open roughly a month later on November 1st.

The movie is said to be a more somber and ambitious effort than many other superhero films, including the entries in the DCEU. In addition, the $55 million budget suggests that it will contain less of the large-scale spectacle that many tentpole blockbusters tend to have. As the shooting schedule is still to come, time will tell if this approach to the material is apparent in the final product.
