It seems that DC is set on growing its new streaming service as it has just been announced yet another series will be added to its slate. The upcoming series from Geoff Johns and Greg Berlanti will focus on the character Stargirl. This will mark the sixth series for the service along with Titans, Doom Patrol, Swamp Thing, Young Justice, and the animated Harley Quinn series.
DC Universe is making a huge splash at San Diego Comic-Con with the announcement of the sites cost and the release of the Titans trailer. The new series Stargirl was revealed by Geoff Johns at his spotlight panel which he will write and executive produce under his Mad Ghost Productions banner. Johns also added that his role in Stargirl impacted his decision to leave DC as CCO. The series will launch in 2019 along with the services other series.
Stargirl will high school sophomore Courtney Whitmore who inspires an unlikely group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past. The series reimagines Stargirl and the very first superhero team, the Justice Society of America, in a fun, exciting and unpredictable series. Not much else is known about the series but it will revolve around Stargil bringing back the legacy of the Justice Society.
