‘BUMBLEBEE’ Will Bring 80’s Vibe & New Origin Story

San Diego Comic Con has been the biggest place recently in the comicbook and film aspect of news, as trailers and more info have come to light on movies, including Bumblebee. The Bumblee panel featured the director Travis Knighy along with Hailee Steinfield, Jorge Lendeborg and John’s Cena’s first appearance at the Comic-con.

At the panel, the actors talked about their characters and their place in the story. The Bumblebee panel gave off an “80’s flair” as it was introduced with laser lights, smoke machines and even live music. The panel soon dived a little into the plot itself as Travis Knight does say it is indeed an origin story. When he goes into it, this is what he states:

“It’s an origin story,  From all the iterations, Bumblebee has been the Transformer with the most connection to people. We find out who he was before he met us, why he becomes the character he becomes- it gives the opportunity what he’s about. It’s a way to look at Transformers like we never have before.”

This is really interesting as the Transformers franchise hasn’t been known to go into depth with an origin story, so it’s exciting to see a film all about the loveable Bumblebee and how he came to be the badass character he is. What really got fans excited is when Knight revealed that we will get to see Cybertron and says “it is awesome”. How or why we will see Cybertron is still unknown but it’lll be something to see.

Along with the new info, those at the Comic con were shown more footage of Bumblebee as it shows the villians of the film, Dropkick and Shatter. Knight also said that the two villians are “triple changers” which means not only do they turn into a car, but also a flying vehicle. And what got a big applause and uproar from fans, was when the footage showed Optimus Prime as a hologram. A reason for Optimus Prime’s appearance was never stated but it could be a big spoiler/suprise.

Finally fans also learned Starscream would not be in the film so many were dissapointed but Knight has reassured fans that there is a story behind that. Bumblebee will surely be a Transformers movie that we haven’t seen before and that is what definitely excites fans the most. How Steinfield’s character developes a bond with Bumblebee will be cool to see.

For now, fans wait as Bumblebee hits theaters December 21, 2018!

On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town.
