With another day of San Diego Comic-Con come and gone we finally have some new information about Sony’s animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. During the panel, a number of major characters were confirmed to be appearing in the film and even more, stars were added to the packed cast. And based on the information revealed at the panel we are in for a hit when Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is released.
We already knew that Miles Morales would be joined by Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy during his web swinging adventures but it seems even more wall crawlers have joined the cast. It was confirmed at the panel that Spider-Man Noir, Spider-Ham, and Peni Parker will also be in the film. And the stars voicing these characters are quite exciting.
It was previously revealed that Nicolas Cage would be voicing Spider-Man Noir but the casting was announced again at the panel.
Joining Cage is the actress Kimiko Glenn from Orange Is the New Black and most recently Liza on Demand. Glenn will be portraying Peni Parker. Peni is a young girl who pilots a mechanized suit of armor called the SP//dr suit which she uses to fight evil on her Earth.
And rounding out the confirmed cast is everyone’s favorite anthropomorphic pig, Spider-Ham. This alternate Spider-Man will be voiced by the comedian John Mulaney. Given Mulaney’s humor, he will be perfect for the role of Spider-Ham in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
This was it for the confirmed cast but according to those who watched the footage shown at the panel it seems we may see Madame Web make an appearance. During the footage shown the character was shown briefly and many have come to believe, this is Madame Web.
It looks like Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is going all out with this cast of characters and the stars voicing them. And it will be very exciting to see how it all comes together at the end of this year when the film is released.
Along with these new chaacter reveals, Sony also released a new still from the film featuring a new look at Peter Parker, Miles Morales, and our first look at Hailee Steinfeld’s Gwen Stacy.
