‘AQUAMAN’ SDCC Trailer Breakdown

This past weekend, Hall H was in full force with Warner Bros bringing the house down, leading this year’s San Diego Comic Con with movie sneak peeks and trailers. Amongst them, the most anticipated trailer for the upcoming Aquaman was finally dropped and it truly exceeded all expectations. Being our first full look at what to expect under the sea, let’s break down what was teased.

Thetrailer starts off with Aquaman’s origins story 101, briefly showcasing Nicole Kidman as Queen Natlanna (Aquaman’s mother).

Here, we see Bruce Wayne’s suspicions confirmed: Arthur Curry can talk to fish. A young Aquaman is seen being bullied at an aquarium and his aquatic guardians come to his defense.

And yes, he gets fish eyes sort of.

Time progresses and we see the ocean vigilante all grown up, boarding a submarine full of bad guys.

We start getting a glimpse of what Atlantis is going to look like on the big screen.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a royal superhero movie without some half brother psycho on the throne. We get a first look at King Orm and his menacing hairdo.

One of the most breathtaking moments of the trailer, we finally get to see how rich and colorful the world of Atlantis is. My only thought when describing it is calling it an “underwater Wakanda”.

Here we have Arthurman – I mean Aquaman – in the full Atlantean garb that we got a peek at a few weeks ago in Las Vegas. So far, the entire aesthetic is promising and looks to be visually pleasing on the big screen.

This. Shot. We’re all obsessed with how big scale (no pun intended) this movie is going to be visually phenomenal.

Despite previous criticism towards Black Manta’s look, the finished product looks much more menacing than the stills released earlier.

And the battle with Black Manta is definitely shaping up to be an epic sequence.

Search that, this battle of the sea armies is going to be amazing.

Definitely. Amazing. Aquaman is holding my expectations rather high, especially with such a strong trailer to open with. What was your favorite part? Do you like Aquaman’s look? Do you still think Mera is meh? Tell us your thoughts over on @SuperBroMovies!
