Filming has officially commenced for STAR WAS EPISODE IX, the final installment of the Skywalker Saga, and to commemorate it, Director JJ Abrams has taken to twitter to post the first behinds the scenes photo from set, along with a heartfelt message on the film. You can check out the tweet below:
JJ Abrams, not really carrying a presence on twitter until this apparent first tweet today, is a secretive filmmaker, which was especially obvious during most of the filming and press tour for Star Wars Episode VII The Force Awakens. Abrams also mentions the absence of Carrie Fisher and the sadness surrounding the situation of closing out the Skywalker story without one of the most important characters involved. Rian Johnson, director of Episode VIII, is also mentioned and thanked for being a part of this trilogy. Overall it seems everything around Episode IX will have a lot of finality to it.
What should all be interesting to point out would be the presence of John Boyega in the photo, however blurry it may be. From the looks of the photo Boyega’s character Finn seems to be sporting an new haircut, possibly marking a time jump in the film since the events of Episode VIII. Overall this photo has plenty of Star Wars fans excited, and it will be interesting to see how Abrams closes this trilogy out and what lies ahead in the future of the Star Wars Franchise. – Ernesto Valenzuela
