We always see the final outfits for films. We also usually see multiple different concepts for outfits before and after the films are released. This happens time and time again. Sometimes the concept art looks better than the final product we get. Today, we get a new look at an outfit design for Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) in Ant-Man and the Wasp.
We all know that Van Dyne was stuck is in the Quantum Realm for most of the film. She had on her Wasp outfit the entire time she was stuck there. Well, there was a totally different design for Van Dyne’s Wasp outfit in the film. The outfit is an unused alternate design.
Here’s the concept art for Van Dyne’s retro outfit:
Van Dyne’s original outfit was yellow and black, it also had four wings. This newer or “retro” outfit is black and red with two wings. The mask also looks better for breathing and shielding. Personally, I like this outfit better than the one they chose for the film. It looks amazing, but this retro one just has a better look to it. It’s more elusive and stealthy. Red doesn’t stand out as much as yellow in the dark when you’re on a mission, so I think this helps more. Either way, they ultimately went a different route, but it’s still awesome to see concept art for a film at any point.
