Ever since James Gunn’s highly publicized firing from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, stars of the hit sci-fi comedy franchise have come to the defense of the director. Chris Pratt, Pom Klementieff, Kurt Russell, and more have praised Gunn for his kindness, generosity, and overall genuine good nature as a human being. One actor in particular, Dave Bautista, has had plenty to say of the controversy surrounding Gunn, now going as far as to call out the House of Mouse itself.

Earlier today, Bautista took to Twitter after one user asked if he has anything planned should Disney refuse to rehire Gunn for the Guardians threequel. Bautista says that, while he will do what’s legally required of him, Vol. 3 just won’t be the same without Gunn at the helm.

The actor’s statement refers to Mike Cernovich, a right-wing conspiracy theorist who is credited for the cause of the director’s firing. Having worked alongside Gunn twice in both Guardians films, Bautista is entitled to defend his longtime friend and director from public scrutiny. Bautista has played Drax the Destroyer a total of three times, with a fourth appearance likely happening in the untitled Avengers 4, set for release next summer.

Some might say Bautista shouldn’t bite the hand that feeds him, but he’s doing what any good friend should. Like the Guardians themselves, Gunn has no shortage of allies willing to defend and protect him at any cost, even if it means laying their careers on the line.
