Ben Schwartz To Voice ‘SONIC THE HEDGEHOG’ In Upcoming Film

Ben Schwartz will voice the legendary video game character Sonic the Hedgehog. The film will also star Jim Carey as Dr. Ivo “Eggman” Robotnik, James Marsden, and Tika Sumpter. The film will be a live-action CGI hybrid film under Paramount Pictures. Directed by Jeff Fowler (Gopher Broke) and produced by Tim Miller (Deadpool), Neal H. Moritz, and Toby Ascher.

The film is slated for November 15, 2019. It will be based on the Sega video game property. Originally slated to be produced under Sony, the film moved to Paramount in October. Sega launched the successful gaming property in 1991 and had a film released in 1996. Sonic was released at a time when video games were truly taking over. Super Mario Bros, Mortal Kombat, and Street Fighter were also released during this extravaganza in the late 80s and early 90s.

This isn’t Schwartz’s first rodeo doing voice acting. He’s currently voicing Dewey in Disney’s DuckTales reboot and he voiced Skidmark in DreamWork’s Turbo. He’s also apart of the cast for Kevin Hart’s Night School. The film will be about Sonic trying to defeat Dr. Robitnik, save animals imprisoned in robots, and retrieve magical Chaos emeralds.
