Joivan Wade, best known for his role in The First Purge will be joining the Doom Patrol on DC’s new streaming service. Wade will be bringing Victor Stone also known as the superhero, Cyborg, to life on the small screen.
The official character description according to EW, Wade will be a series regular in the DC Universe streaming series. Cyborg will be struggling to “maintain the connections that make him human. Desperate to gain acceptance from the outside world, Vic harnesses the curse of his cybernetic body and uses his powers as the ultimate hero for the digital age.”
Cyborg will be introduced to the Doom Patrol when he recruits them to go on a mission that “will take them to the weirdest and most unexpected corners of the DC Universe.” Wade’s Cyborg joins a team of superheroes that will include Robotman, Negative Man, Elasti-Woman (played by April Bowlby), Crazy Jane (played by Diane Guerrero) and Dr. Niles Caulder, leader of the team.
This casting is interesting because Ray Fisher previously played Cyborg on the big screen in Justice League. Doom Patrol has been confirmed to be only connected to Titans. If so, it is still possible that Fisher could make another appearance down the road in another DC movie like his own solo film. According to Joe Morton, who played Victor’s father, Silas Stone, in Justice League, has said that there are deleted scenes from Justice League that could easily be used for the solo film which was said to be scheduled for release in 2020.
