A few months back, it was confirmed that Paramount Pictures had a live-action adaptation of the popular Nickelodeon children’s program ‘Dora the Explorer’ in development. The news received mixed reactions but it looks like the studio is pushing forward with the project as we now have our first look at the upcoming film.
Isabela Moner, previously seen in Sicario: Day of the Soldado and Transformers: The Last Knight, shared the first look, which is an image of her in the full costume with a tropical backdrop, on her Instagram, account along with the caption “so excited to show you the First Look of me as #DoraTheExplorer”.

The adaption will be directed by James Bobbin (Muppets Most Wanted) and is currently on the fast track for release on the big screen. It is confirmed that the movie will feature Dora and a group of teenagers on an adventure to rescue Dora’s parents from peril and solve the mystery surrounding the lost Inca civilization.
It also stars Micke Moreno (Escobar: Paradise Lost) as Dora’s trusty sidekick Boots, Eugenio Derbez (Overboard) as “a mysterious jungle inhabitant who tries to protect the teenagers from the marauders,” Nicholas Coombe (Spy Kids) as Randy, “a fellow high schooler who develops an immediate crush on Dora,” Madeleine Madden (Picnic at Hanging Rock) as “the school’s snooty class president, Sammy,” Adriana Barraza (Babel) as Dora’s grandma, and Temuera Morrison (Moana) as Powell.
