Among all of Marvel’s team ups and crossovers as of late, perhaps the most requested is an all-female group of Avengers finally coming together. The idea has been a popular topic of discussion among fans and even a few Marvel stars themselves have chimed in, namely Ant-Man and the Wasp’s Evangeline Lilly. The question is, who among all of Marvel’s powerful female do-gooders would lead the team? Ant-Man director Peyton Reed has a choice in mind, and it’s a character he’s very familiar with.
During an interview with The Huffington Post, Reed threw Hope Van Dyne’s name into the hat to lead an all-female Avengers lineup. Though the Wasp herself, Evangeline Lilly, has said she’d like Captain Marvel to take up the leadership role, Reed’s reasoning is sound and logical.
“I’d like her running things. I’d like to see her as the head of the all-female Avengers. I know Evangeline sort of said … maybe that would be “Captain Marvel,” because she does have the word “captain” in her name. But I think Hope van Dyne is a very decisive leader and a tactician, in addition to being a brilliant scientist. So she checks a lot of boxes in terms of who’s going to be running the Avengers, theoretically.”
After some thought, it’s hard not to think of the Wasp taking charge and leading the way for Marvel’s heroines. The character has shown a tremendous level of intelligence and coupled with her strong moral code, she’d be a perfect candidate.
